Cool D-Star Gateway Registration

BEING A PAPA SYSTEM MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING IS REQUIRED FOR D-STAR GATEWAY REGISTRATION.

Register once, on one system, and you are all set for using the D-Star gateway anywhere in the US, from any Gateway-connected D-Star repeater.

Please Do not register on two systems, or the Gateway will become very confused!!!!

Click on this https://dstar-reg.papasys.org/Dstar.do (you may get a message that the site certificate is for another site , do not worry - it is safe to go to the site).

Your will see "D-STAR Gateway System (KJ6BWR)
Click on Register and follow the instructions.

DO NOT CLICK ON REGISTER EVER AGAIN WHEN YOU VISIT THE SITE!

After initiating registration, but before you can complete it, you will not be able to do anything until you are APPROVED. You will get an e-mail, letting you know that you can proceed to the next step.

After you receive your email approval, log on with your CALLSIGN (IN CAPITALS), and password at this URL:
https://dstar-reg.papasys.org/Dstar.do

(You will be able to administer your account, add “terminals” for Digital Data or your other D-STAR radios, search callsigns, see what other gateways are available, and view the activity on a gateway. Remember to use capital letters in the callsign fields when doing a search).

You must add your callsign on the "PERSONAL INFORMATION" tab to complete registration!!!! To do so, click on the “Personal Information” Hyperlink on the top right of the page.

Then, do the following:
  • Check the box next to “1”, put a space in the “Initial” box, and enter your callsign in lower case in the “pcname” field.

Note: you will only enter the space for the first instance of your callsign in Line #1
  • The additional 7 IP addresses are for the 1.2 GHz Digital Data mode, or if you will have two or more radios with the same callsign operating at the same time, such as your home and mobile rigs.
  • For the additional IP addresses, pcname should be your callsign followed by a hyphen and SSID, such as, “kb6tho-z”. This should all be in lower case.
  • The letter you put in the Initial box must be upper case, and not "G".
  • The “RPT” checkbox is left unchecked; is not used by users.

Thumbs up Re: D-Star Gateway Registration

Yes, I just tried the link, and it's working. Depending on what browser you're using, you might get a message about the site's security certificate - there's nothing wrong with the site, but there is a problem with the security certificate. Since there's nothing you're going to do on the site except register for the D-Star Gateway, there's no danger going to the site. Security certificates cost money, and have to be renewed - it's not worth it just to avoid the message. Your connection to the server will be encrypted in both directions.

Update on status....

Yesterday went to HRO to have them check my 880H. We communicated using my radio, with no changes to the setup, thru D1 to another radio in the store. We also tried simplex with excellent results. They thought I might be having a multi-path issue.

I purchased a new Diamond antenna and coax. Returned home and installed it.

This morning i heard several stations talking from San Diego area. Called them. One responded to my call, but could not hear me after that. They called me several times and i responded, but coul not hear me, other than my first call.

THen a station on D1 responded and said he had heard all my calls ok. We carried on a conversation for about 10 mins. I went to low power and he still had excellent signal from me via D1.

So it looks like a programming error on my part, however i've checked it several times and currently are using a Code Plug that Doug KJ6ACQ sent me (with no changes). He had programmed it with my call sign and other info.

I've checked the registration page and it shows me with a IP address, so it appears registration is ok.

I hope to make it to the breakfast this weekend. Maybe we can figure out the problem.

On a side note, i seem to have the same issues with IRC

Thanks to all, especially Cecil for all the efforts

Since I had some difficulty in originally getting Registered, is there a way to remove my registration and we do it over again?

Problem resolved (i hope).

I discovered even thou the programming software had entries for R2, they actually were not set in the radio. I was unable to program them manually on the radio.

I called HRO and they said they had seen this once before and it had to do with missing R2 entries in the "Bank" section. SO i went poking around in the bank settings and found one gateway missing. I added that and downloaded it to the radio. Then for some yet unknown reason, allthe gateway entries showed up on the radio. Now it's working ok.

I dont know why i could not manually add gateway R2 entries in the radio.
I don't know why the addition of the gateway entry for D1 in the programming sofware, allowed all the entries to show up.

Thanks to all for your help.
